a couple of sunday's ago we took the kids over to our old side of town, tempe.  jason and i both grew up there....me my whole childhood and jason his teenage years.  jason's aunt and uncle still live there and we like to go visit them because there nice and they have a kid friendly backyard.  it was a great afternoon.  the kids ran around the backyard talking to the horses and picking fruit off all their trees.  some for them and some for the horses.  the fresh fruit was delicious and the kids got a lesson on how to cut grapefruit.  who knew our visit would be educational too.  then uncle sonny/grandpa jacobson won all the kids over his snow cone maker.  they kept coming back for seconds and thirds and even fourths. there would've been fifths but i had to cut them off at some point.  when it was time to go, nobody wanted to leave.  jonah just sat on the riding lawn mower and kept saying "ride" until we had to pry his little body from it and the other ones kept running away from us.  after leaving their wonderful home,  it made me long for life on a ranch.  at least we always have one to go visit ;)

2013.

jason and ran the ragnar relay here in arizona a couple of weeks ago.  i have done quite a few of these but never one with my husband (except for the one that we didn't finish because a kid got hit by car and they closed the race... we don't count that one).  our team was totally whack this year.  our name was fromotion, thus the giant afros on our heads which we ran in as well.  these races never seem to get old.  during the middle of the night (by middle of the night i mean 3 am), i can't believe that we are having to get out of the van to go run in the freezing cold dark but there we are, doing it.  it blows my mind why agree to do these things but then when it is all over, i am so glad i did.  once again, it was a blast and our team was hilarious which makes running 200 plus miles in the desert that much more worth it.

we took a little trip out to scottsdale the other day to meet up with dad for lunch. (and to visit the only west elm in arizona.)  eden was so excited that she was going to get to eat lunch with her dad...on a weekday!  she picked the place which was surprising since all they had was hamburgers and she doesn't even like hamburgers all that much.  at least they had ketchup for jonah.  that's all that boy needs to keep him satisfied.  conveniently, there was a sweet tooth fairy right next door for our after lunch sweet cravings.  eden's eyes lit up when she saw all the cupcakes.  there were so many to choose from but she picked the one with the oreo sunflower on top.  it was just calling her name :)  i have a feeling lunch dates with dad are going to be occurring much more often.
