a day at the museum.

children's museum of phoenix.

we took a road trip to phoenix this past monday and by road trip i mean a 25 minute car ride to downtown.  the kids had the day off so we thought we it would be good day to go explore the children's museum.  it's such a cool place and i love how it's inside an old elementary school building.  i feel like there aren't very many historical buildings with character around here so this little gem is a nice change of scenery.  our kids were nonstop busy for 2 hours straight and we would've stayed longer but jonah was starting to have some major meltdowns and was in need of that thing called a nap.  so, our visit was cut a little short but that's just what happens when you have an almost 2 year old.  they make your life revolve around them.  but we love him anyway :)

a few really cold days.

it doesn't happen very often that gilbert, arizona is colder than new york city or boston in the winter time but for a couple of days we were!  in fact we broke some 15 year old records. crazy.  it's hard to even believe that a week ago we were in the 3o's and 40's during the day because now we are in the 80's BUT i have the pictures to prove it.  it was literally so cold that eden came outside to play but ended up standing in the same spot for 5 minutes and then went back inside. this was in the afternoon time.  (in the morning, her and jonah were toughing it out and showing me all their cool moves on the trampoline.)  ava kept telling me that she could't feel her hands or her face.  she would check periodically to make sure they were still there.

it was a very cold couple of days but we enjoyed bundling up and getting a real feel for "winter".  too bad it didn't snow.  it was definitely cold enough.  that would've been the icing on the cake.

soccer!

naturally, i was thrilled when jack said he wanted to start playing soccer since i played much of my childhood and all the way into college but, i was a slightly hesitant because the last time he played he was 3 or 4 and all he did was sit on the field and pick grass as everyone else ran around him.  well i guess the 5 year break did him some good because this time he was all over the place and he had a big smile on his face the whole time.  jason and i were so proud of our boy for his effort and showing some interest in something other than computer and video games.  cross our fingers that he keeps up his love for soccer... after the game was over he told me that he is never going to quit soccer because he loves it so much.  this is saying a lot coming from a kid who has a track record of wanting to quit something right after he starts it.

disneyland flashback.

eden and the princesses.

and you thought i was done posting about disneyland, not just yet... i have to say, eden adores the disney princesses, as do most four year old little girls i suppose.  she was willing to wait however long she had to to meet some of her favorite people in the whole world.  luckily, it wasn't too long.  when her time came to meet them she was in heaven.  she just smiled and nodded as they talked with her and asked her questions, being very bashful and bit giddy at the same time.  it was the cutest when she got to meet cinderella.  they seemed to have a connection from the very start as if they were long lost friends catching up on old times.  what a special day this was for eden, getting to meet five princesses!  i just love eden and her sweet smile.

the end. (of disneyland, i promise, or at least until we go again).
