sweet tooth.

jack came to me and was complaining that we didn't have any sugar treats in our house, which is a rare occasion around here. so, he suggested we make some cookies and i was all for that. (i was having a little sugar craving myself.)  we made some of our favorites: chocolate and peanut butter chip cookies.

the sisters came in from playing and were more than thrilled to find fresh baked cookies sitting on the counter.
it was the perfect afternoon snack...for everyone.

my karate kid

jack was tested the last weekend in karate and he graduated from his white belt to an orange belt.  it was such a treat to watch jack do all of his karate moves that he has learned over the last couple of months.  i was so amazed that he was able remember all of these karate sequences.  after he was tested and passed, he got to break boards with his hands and feet.  then, master pacini presented him with his brand new orange belt.  he was so pleased with himself. as was i :)

swim team.

once again, i have tortured myself (and my family) by signing my kids up for summer swim team.  with daily early morning practices, early evening swim meets that jason can rarely attend since he's still at work, and the scorching 100+ degree heat makes me wonder why i keep doing this.  then, i realize how rewarding it is to watch my kids compete and improve throughout the swim season.  plus, it's great exercise and they love collecting the ribbons. (except jack is now realizing that certain colors are better than others.)  this is ava's first year of swim team and she is loving it. jack, on the other hand, isn't so jazzed about waking up early in the morning to go swim laps.  hang in there kiddos, you are doing awesome and we only have a couple more weeks left.
