easter 2012

the kids woke up on saturday morning to find that the easter bunny had left some surprises in their easter baskets while they were sleeping. (i guess the easter bunny comes a day earlier in mexico??) they were all smiles as they rummaged through the baskets to see all the candy and trinkets that were left for them. then, they were off to find the eggs that the easter bunny had ever so carefully hid for them. it was such a fun morning searching for eggs on mexican turf.

the next day, easter sunday, we got all ready and went to sacrament at the nearby church. the entire thing was in spanish. my kids didn't understand why they had to go church since they wouldn't understand anything that was being said. i had to remind them that they don't listen when it's in english, so it really wouldn't matter what language it was in. however, i think they paid more attention to the spanish sacrament than they do at our home ward. i guess it was a novelty but such a great experience. and the people were so kind and welcoming. i'm very glad that we had the opportunity to attend. it was definitely an easter to remember.

my messy little eater

guilty:

this little turkey is guilty of throwing his food over board on a regular basis and his poor mom is getting sick of cleaning it up.
oh the joys of a one year old.

general conference

general conference never happens quite the way i had hoped it would. in my little fantasy world, my kids would sit there quietly working on their packets they get from primary and me and jason would take in everything that is being spoken to us and the spirit would be so strong. in reality, it's pretty much utter chaos. kids running around everywhere, toys and random things are all over the floor, kids needing something every two seconds including help with their conference packets that are supposed to be keeping them busy so the parents can listen.... and the list goes on. my favorite is when jack asks me every two seconds what the talk is about and i have to keep replying to him that if you would just stop talking for a minute, i would actually have an answer for him. and then ava constantly saying, "this is boring". good times.

however, i'm very grateful for this time in my life and i know that down the road i will be begging for these kinds of days again. so, in the meantime, i always have the ensign to fall back on for those talks that i didn't get to hear the first time around :) (and though, i am complaining slightly, i still felt the spirit and heard some very wonderful messages.)

another surprise visit

our friend erin (a.k.a. snow white at disneyland) loves to surprise us. this time, she drove all the way here from california with her friend without telling us. we got a knock on the door on a friday morning and there she was...standing on the door step. we were very very surprised, but so thrilled she came to see us again. we didn't get to hang out as much as we would've liked, but the time we did spend together was wonderful. the kids were so excited to have their disneyland buddy here and relished every second they were with her. thanks for coming to visit us erin!! you can surprise us anytime ;)

p.s. can't wait to see you next month when you get baptized!!
