the breinholts go to the grand canyon

we took a little trip to the grand canyon. what can i say? it was big. really big. the last time i saw it was when i was probably five years old. it's funny that people travel from all of the world to see this spot on the map but we live within a couple of hours from this natural wonder and don't think much of it. i'm glad that my children can say they have been to the grand canyon since they are arizonans. i'm sure they won't remember it a couple of years from now but i've got the pictures to prove it :) however, they were way more interested in playing in the patches of snow than taking in the sight of the giant hole in the earth.

jonah's birthday celebration

jonah is officially a one year old. he celebrated his birthday by demolishing a cupcake and opening a few presents. his siblings were there every step of the way, showing him how to blow out a candle to how to tear open wrapping paper. i don't know what we would do without all their helpful little bodies ;)

this past year went by way too fast. i wish i could put life into slow motion mode most of the time. since jonah will most likely be my last baby, i treasure the moments that much more. He is such a sweet baby with a smile always on his face. he loves to wave, make spitting sounds with his tongue, chew on things (including your finger), laugh, eat food, dance, clap his hands, ride in his push car outside and have playtime with his siblings. some of his favorites are books, stuffed animals, anything he can throw, bouncy balls, and the vacuum. now, if only we could get him to sleep through night, he might just be the perfect baby. happy birthday, jonah!

the jack in the hat

i am a pretty big fan of dr. seuss,

but i am even a bigger fan of this kid.

in honor of dr. seuss's birthday, jack's class made "the cat in the hat" hats at school today.

it was pretty darn cute.

joe's farm grill

the first day erin was here we took her out to lunch to one of our favorite restaurants that just so happens to be right here in our neighborhood. maybe you've heard of it...joe's farm grill. (it was highlighted on the food network) i guess you could say it's gilbert's tiny claim to fame. if you are from here and haven't tried it, do, it's very yummy. anyways, as we waited for our food, the kids entertained themselves by taking pictures while making funny faces. and to hold them over, they snacked on ketchup. my kids are kinda wierdos, but i love them to pieces :)

(if you are wondering why eden looks like she is wearing pajamas, it's because she is. sweet erin gifted my girls with them and eden couldn't wait until night to wear hers.)
