mexico: our summer getaway

it's always a relaxing adventure when we head south of the border. there is always something to do whether it's hunting for crabs, swimming, building sand castles, eating tacos, or having a dance party on the front patio.  if i asked jack what his favorite thing was on this trip, he would say having mud ball fights with his cousins and some friends they met from next door.  ava would say catching baby crabs with her cousin bella.  eden would probably say swimming and jonah would say playing with anything that resembles a stick or a ball.  there are no words to describe how much we love going to this place. (and something about thrifty ice cream after a mexican meal makes it all that much better.)

summer buzz cut.

it was that time...

time for jack to shed his long locks.

he wasn't too jazzed about the idea but he went along with it when he told him he could do it himself.

he was doing a pretty good but jason stepped in to help finish off the job.

he is now officially ready for summer (and swim team).

memorial day fruit kabobs

this year for memorial day we made these festive little eats to take to our annual barbecue that my parents host every year.  my kids had the best time putting these fruit kabobs together.  they thought it was so fun to make different patterns with the fruit and of course, they snuck in a few marshmallows here and there.
