pre easter photo shoot

pre easter sunday 2010

since this year easter falls on general conference sunday, the kids got to parade around in their easter get up a week early.
it was out to the back yard where i make them pose for some annual easter pictures while the sun shines in their little faces and in every picture they have tears running down their cheeks from having to squint so much.
it doesn't help that jack already suffers from asian eye syndrome....
thanks to me and my wonderful natural squinty eyes.

spring break vacay

puerto penasco
(a.k.a. rocky point)
spring break '10

there is nothing better than warm weather and a beach.
even if it means you have to stay in a house where the toilet rules are:
"if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down."

eden with her freshly done pedicure.
compliments of her aunt heidi.

and it wouldn't be mexico without a cross up on a hill.

an unproductive march day

today was just one of those days. you know, when you feel like a big fat waste of space
because all you want to do is lay on the couch and watch the price is right and regis and kelly all morning. it didn't help that my naked daughter was laying on the couch right next to me because she woke up at 6am and decided to roam the house and then took a shower and fell back asleep in her towel before she could manage to get her undies on.
as soon as i got jack dressed for mismatched day at school, in honor of dr. suess week, i made his lunch and then sent him out the door, i was back in bed and then later to the couch.
ava didn't wake up until 11:45.
eden took her morning nap until 12:15.
i guess that is just how we roll around her.
i somehow managed to get dress around 1:30 and decided to take a trip to target.
just so i didn't fell like i was wasting the day, you know.
easter is coming and that means mini eggs from cadbury.
one of the most delicious candies around.
i grabbed a bag of those and they are already about gone.
the rest of the afternoon was spent on the couch watching random tv shows.

(jack dressed for mismatched day)

i guess the theme for the day is: unproductive.
hopefully tomorrow's theme is: Productive with a capital P.
i would hate to waste another beautiful march day.

{even though, i have to admit, it was kinda nice laying on the couch all day}

its a jungle out there

if you are thinking this is florida, you are wrong.
this is arizona.
my backyard, to be exact.
its pretty unbelievable, but true.
i think we have had more rain this month than the entire previous decade.
so, thanks to this unexpected gift, the grass in our backyard is thick and luscious.
and green.

happy day!

a valentinish birthday

jason has officially left the 20's and is venturing into the 30's!
it's kinda weird to think he is 30 now but he is.
so, for his birthday, i made him 30 cinnamon rolls.
ava helped.
eden did a little bit too. she helped me by playing in her favorite kitchen drawer.
she loves to throw everything out and then sit in it.
but it can occupy her for a long time cause she will do it over and over again.

in the middle of our cinnamon roll baking, i got a special delivery.
(a.k.a. jack getting home from school with a giant heart plastered to him.)
this kid rocks. and he makes me smile... a lot.
he was so excited from the days events and couldn't wait to tell me all about it.
so we took a short recess and examined each and every valentine he received.

then.....
....some time later, jason opened his birthday present.
he got what every 30 year old man needs.
a new power drill.
i think it makes them feel even more manly for some reason.

so, welcome to the thirties, babe.
sadly, i will be joining you in a short 10 months :(

the weather

last week it rained. and rained. and rained.
it was pretty amazing.
there is nothing like a good three days straight of raining in arizona.
it rained so much that i think we already surpassed our rain totals for the whole year of 2009.
its going to be a good year.

jack and ava appropriately requested some hot chocolate to go along with their rainy week.
its not very often that we get to enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate living in arizona.
but this week was a little taste of winter.

and to top it off, we even had tornado warnings.
i don't even think us zonans even know what a tornado is.
perhaps its lots of wind that blows all of the trees down on your street and scares your babysitter so much that she cancels on you right before you head out the door to hit a temple session on ward temple night.

that satan works in mysterious ways.
but we showed him and still managed to scrounge up a babysitter in seconds and drive through pouring rain and large gusts of winds to make it all happen.

however, we sure are enjoying the weather.

ava the sailorman

ava has been eating her vegetables.

and she has the muscles to prove it.

too bad she got duped by her parents into thinking that it is vegetables
that builds muscles rather than meat.
